EVE- Ready to Ryde with DMX Again

With DMX out of prison … the Ruff Ryders WILL roll again … this according to the former 1st Lady of the rap crew, Eve.

The Grammy Winner was leaving La Guardia airport in NY this weekend when we asked about the status of her old ground breaking crew that included X, The LOX, Swizz Beatz, Drag-On and others.

Eve told us she hasn’t spoken with X since he became a free man … but insists, “I’m sure you’ll see Ruff Ryders back together.”

She’s probably right — X is blowing up again … in part, due to the positive response he’s been getting from recent live performances.

LINDSAY LOHAN I’m Signing On To Become Liz Taylor

Lindsay Lohan is ready to sign on to play Liz Taylor, and she’s going to complete her community service faster than required to clear the decks for shooting the flick.

Lindsay — who will appear in court at 10 AM PT for her probation progress hearing — is in the final stages of negotiating the deal — this according to sources very close to the actress/perpetual defendant. We’re told the plan is to sign the deal early next week.

And we’re told … Lindsay is actually getting more scripts than she’s received in years — apparently producers have noticed she’s finally showing some maturity.

As for today … as we first reported Lindsay has completed the required morgue work and psychotherapy sessions. If all goes well, she’ll be off probation at the end of March.

igor nears Bermuda as Category 1 hurricane.(Front)

The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) September 20, 2010 By Jason Bronis The Associated Press HAMILTON, Bermuda Fierce waves pounded the breakwaters and shores of Bermuda on Sunday, straining yacht moorings and battering oceanfront hotels as a weakened Hurricane Igor lashed the wealthy British enclave.

Bermudians battened down their homes in pelting rain to wait out Igor, which was barely a Category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph. Some storm-seasoned islanders ventured outside to gawk at the 15-foot surf or to triple-tie boat moorings even as officials warned them to stay indoors. this web site category 1 hurricane

“We are urging residents to please go home and stay in until it is all over,” government spokeswoman Beverle Lottimore said.

Those who did venture outside were met with howling winds, and gusts of hurricane force were reported by midday. Flooding was reported in low-lying areas. Streets in downtown Hamilton, the capital, were covered in several inches of water and littered with tree branches and other debris.

Igor’s eye was expected to pass over or very close to Bermuda late Sunday, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami. But with hurricane-force winds extending up to 90 miles from the storm’s eye, even a near-miss could cause substantial damage. go to web site category 1 hurricane

The storm was expected to veer northeast – away from the United States – after passing Bermuda. But forecasters said it would continue causing high surf and strong rip currents along the U.S. eastern seaboard.

In Mexico on Sunday, officials raised to 12 the death toll from Hurricane Karl, which made landfall on Mexico’s Gulf Coast on Friday.

At least 30,000 people were displaced by flooding and landslides in Veracruz alone, according to a report from the Civil Protection agency.

Far out in the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Julia was weakening and not expected to threaten land.

Bank Foreclosing On Jailed O.J. Simpson's House

JP Morgan Chase has started the foreclosure process against O.J. Simpson’s Florida home, but there’s just one problem. According to court records, the bank’s process server has made repeated attempts to serve the former football great and actor at the house!

Note to Chase: O.J. Simpson is in prison! Try serving him at 1200 Prison Rd., Lovelock, Nevada. He’s been there since 2008!

After being found not guilty of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman, Simpson was found liable for their deaths in a civil suit brought by the Brown and Goldman families.

Simpson was convicted on armed robbery and kidnapping charges in Nevada in 2008, and continued to make payments on the place until 2010.

The Atlanta Journal and Constitution Retailing Column.

Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News October 27, 2001 By Renee Degross, The Atlanta Journal and Constitution Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News Oct. 27–FOOD LION EXPANDING PRESENCE IN GEORGIA: Just as Cub Foods closes stores in metro Atlanta, its majority owner Delhaize Group is expanding another of its grocery chains in Georgia.

But whether Food Lion, the subsidiary of Delhaize, makes a move in metro Atlanta remains to be seen.

Food Lion plans to open five stores next year in Brunswick, Jefferson, Alma, Reidsville and Pembroke.

Ruth Kinzey, a Food Lion spokeswoman, said the Peach State is an attractive market for the North Carolina-based chain.

“We definitely are expanding within Georgia,” Kinzey said.

One main reason Food Lion has not made a play in metro Atlanta, and only operates two stores on the distant fringes of the area, is because of its 60 percent stake in Cub Foods.

But Cub Foods will shut 17 area stores in metro Atlanta by Dec. 31. Kinzey did not comment on Food Lion’s future in metro Atlanta.

Kroger and Publix rule the area grocery domain with about 62 percent of market share between them. Beneath them, it has been a bloodbath in the grocery wars in recent years, with Bruno’s, A&P, Webvan, Harris Teeter and now Cub Foods biting the dust. this web site lenox square mall

Harry’s Farmers Market also is on its last legs. Whole Foods is set to complete a deal to buy Harry’s assets, distribution facilities, cooking commissary and three mega-stores, leaving four remaining Harry’s In A Hurry locations with uncertain futures.

“Atlanta is tough,” said BB&T Capital Markets analyst Andrew Wolf, “and it should be avoided.” PLAN FOR LENOX SQUARE RENAMING ON HOLD: Lenox Square mall may get to keep its name after all — at least for the foreseeable future.

Lenox Square’s owners, Simon Property Group, had hoped to hawk the glitzy mall’s naming rights, but no deals have surfaced since March, when Simon’s intentions first became known. here lenox square mall

Simon had hoped to sell the corporate naming rights for some $30 million over 10 years.

But the recessionary economy has kept many potential takers away; instead, they’re laying off workers.

Simon officials did not return phone calls.

EUROPEAN GROCERIES WAY AHEAD OF U.S.: Shoppers who love gadgets may find the best of both worlds coming to their nearest grocery store in the near future.

Grocers in the United States, including metro Atlanta, have added self-checkouts in the past two years. They’re also catching on in Wal-Mart and Kmart locations. But self-scanning devices, or hand-held scanners, put more power in the hands of consumers. Those devices lag their self-checkout counterparts.

Kmart will use self-scanners at holiday time, and some other local retailers are considering them. But grocers in Italy are already putting them to use.

Coop, a grocery store chain with stores in Italy, has a wall of scanners when you walk into its outlets. In the Coop in Empoli, for instance, customers insert their shopper cards in the scanner wall, which signals them to take a scanner and begin their excursion around the store.

In the end, the shopper hands the scanner to the checker, who downloads the total. After payment, the shopper bags or boxes the goods, and finito!

The process helps get shoppers out of the stores faster.

Analysts say it’s coming. However, like most things in retailing, it’s evolutionary … and sometimes slow.

ELTON JOHN’S HUBBY SLAMS MADONNA You’re Desperate & Narcissistic

Elton John’s husband David Furnish LASHED OUT at Madonna following her victory speech at the Golden Globes last night … saying it was “embarrassing in its narcissism.”

Moments after Madge won the statue for Best Original Song, Furnish went to his Facebook page and WENT OFF … writing, “Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!”

For the record — Elton was nominated in the same category and seemed pissed off in the crowd when Madonna’s name was read.

But David continued on Facebook … writing, “Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in it’s narcissism. And her critisism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.”

Elton seemed particularly bitter towards Madonna BEFORE the awards … telling one reporter on the red carpet he believed Madge had no “f**kin’ chance” of emerging victorious.

National Journal March 31, 2007 | Katz, Marisa Scott MulhauMr is not actually from New Jersey. He’s a local, the self-proclaimed “only kid who grew up in Washington without political connections.” But because of his father, a doctor from northern New Jersey, and his mother, a social worker from southern New Jersey, he learned to talk Turnpike exits. It has gotten him jobs with two Democratic senators from the Garden State, first as a spokesman and speechwriter for thenSen. Robert Torrlcelll and now as a senior adviser, counsel, and press-operation director for Frank Lautenberg.

Mulhauser, 31, started in Torricelli’s office in 1997, one White House internship removed from the University of Pennsylvania. He spent the 2000 election cycle in the press shop at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. His toughest assignment: two days to throw together an eight-city Jimmy Buffett tour for now-Sen. Bill Nelson, D-FIa. Next, Mulhauser enrolled in Georgetown University Law Center and signed on as a spokesman and speechwriter for then-Sen. John Breaux, D-La. If you’ve ever wondered whether you can order a hoagie in the land of the po’ boy, “with a little translation, it can be done,” Mulhauser says.

After graduating from Georgetown in 2005, he did a stint at Ballard, Spahr, Andrews & Ingersoll in Philadelphia. But when last November’s election results came in and the phone started ringing, he decided to come back to Washington. “There were years of darkness,” he says. “This was a chance to see things through, to get things done-things that we’d thought about and hoped about and talked about for a long time.” Certainly, talking is something Mulhauser is known for. Around November, he typically loses his voice and jokes about better budgeting for next year. He’ll be talking Turnpike exits a lot for Lautenberg. Where does he come down on Bon Jovl versus Bruce Sprlngsteen? “That’s a trick question,” Mulhauser says. “They’re both like fine wine, to be appreciated in their own way.” -Marisa Katz Tonnie Wybenslngw was tired of moving. She’d had several roommates and several apartments during the course of seven years in Washington. And so, when she decided to leave the Hill to take a job at NASDAQ in New York City, she hired movers. “I told them, ? don’t want to do anything-take everything off the walls, put everything in boxes,’ ” she says. That was only two months ago. Already, the movers are back. After Jason Roe, chief of staff to Rep. Tom Feeney, R-FIa., signed on as deputy campaign manager for Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign, he went up to New York, took Wybensinger out to dinner, and tried to persuade her to be his successor. It worked. “They’re like family to me,” Wybensinger says. “And, if your family tells you they need you, you don’t usually say no.” Snap decisions are not out of character for Wybensinger, 28. Toward the end of her time at Ohio State University, she announced that she was moving to Washington after graduation. She didn’t have anything lined up. But she’d taken a school trip to D.C. in eighth grade. “Other kids were just happy to be away from their parents,” she says. “I was the person standing in front asking a million questions about how it all worked.” Upon becoming a D.C. resident, she sought out a placement agency, which sent her to an interview with Cassidy & Associates. Although she’d never heard of the lobbying firm, she liked the feel of the office. “It was what I pictured working in Washington looking like,” she recalls. “People were dressed nice, the phones were all ringing, people were running around.” She took a job as an administrative assistant. see here jimmy buffett tour 2011 go to website jimmy buffett tour 2011

From there she landed a spot with then-Rep. Pat Toomey, R-Pa. Since Toomey was running for the Senate, his office stopped filling vacancies and Wybensinger quickly moved up the ladder. “I was a staff assistant for about six days, and then a legislative correspondent for a few months, and then an LA left and I became an LA handling Financial Services Committee issues for him.” When Toomey lost the Senate race, Wybensinger moved over to Feeney’s office, working her way up from legislative assistant to legislative director and deputy chief of staff. She’s absorbed a lot about Florida in the process. “Never underestimate Floridians,” says the die-hard Buckeye. She still owes Feeney spokeswoman Pepper Pennington a week’s worth of lunches for Florida’s crushing win over Ohio State in the BCS championship game. What if they end up facing off in the NCAA basketball final? “We haven’t come up with a bet this time around,” Wybensinger says. “Maybe just one lunch.” -M.K.
