VIDEO: Tupac returns to stage at music fest

Tupac died in 1996, three years before the first Coachella festival took place, but that didn’t stop him–or at least his bizarrely lifelike 3D image–from joining Dr. Dre onstage during Dre’s much-hyped festival finale this year. Call it better gigging through technology: About halfway through Dre’s 70-minute set, what appeared to be an actual shirtless Tupac appeared onstage, greeted the crowd with “What up, Coachella?”–and then traded rhymes with Dre’s co-billed Coachella partner, the flesh-and-blood Snoop Dogg, on “Come With Me,” “Hail Mary,” and “Gangsta Party.” Concertgoers at first seemed confused–the audience momentarily grew abnormally silent–and that confusion only increased when Tupac suddenly vaporized and vanished from the stage as quickly as he had materialized. All eyez were on him, so to speak, and then, POOF–’Pac was gone.

DOMINO’S PARTNERS WITH THE NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION TO DELIVER FIRE SAFETY MESSAGE DOMINO’S SUPPORTS SMOKE ALARMS THEME FOR FALL CAMPAIGN.

States News Service September 27, 2010 Quincy, Massachusetts — The following information was released by the National Fire Protection Association:

Nearly two-thirds of home fire deaths occur in homes without smoke alarms or with smoke alarms that do not function properly. With that in mind, Domino’s Pizza[R] (NYSE: DPZ), the recognized world leader in pizza delivery, today announced its fall fire safety campaign to encourage customers to focus on home smoke alarms for safety. Fire Prevention Week is October 3 through October 9, and participating markets will deliver the message of “Smoke Alarms: A sound you can live with!” on pizza boxes during that week, together with their partners at the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA.) As part of the fall campaign, customers who order from participating Domino’s Pizza stores in October may be surprised when their delivery arrives aboard a fire engine. If all the smoke alarms in the home are working, the pizza is free. If a smoke alarm is not working, the firefighters will replace the batteries and/or smoke alarm and leave the home with a fully functioning fire safety device. here dominos coupon codes

“Hundreds of lives could be saved each year if all homes had working smoke alarms,” said Domino’s spokesperson Chris Brandon. “Domino’s makes 1 million deliveries each day, so we reach a lot of people in their homes, where fire safety begins. We are thrilled to continue the partnership with the NFPA and to be able to use our network of delivery experts to make homes across the country a little safer.” “On average, eight people die in home fires every day,” said Lorraine Carli, NFPA’s vice president of communications. “We appreciate Domino’s giving us the opportunity to literally deliver life-saving information on fire safety and smoke alarms to people in their home with their pizza.” Smoke Alarm Safety Tips from Domino’s and NFPA An ionization smoke alarm is generally more responsive to flaming fires and a photoelectric smoke alarm is generally more responsive to smoldering fires. For the best protection, both types of alarms or combination ionization and photoelectric alarms are recommended.

Install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area and on every level of the home, including the basement. For the best protection, interconnect all smoke alarms throughout the home. When one sounds, they all sound.

Test alarms at least monthly by pushing the test button.

Smoke rises; install smoke alarms following manufacturer’s instructions high on a wall or on a ceiling. Save manufacturers’ instructions for testing and maintenance.

Replace batteries in all smoke alarms at least once a year. If an alarm “chirps,” warning the battery is low, replace the battery right away.

Replace all smoke alarms, including alarms that use ten year batteries and hard-wired alarms, when they are ten years old or sooner if they do not respond properly when tested.

Alarms that are hard-wired (and include battery backup) must be installed by a qualified electrician.

If cooking fumes or steam sets off nuisance alarms, replace the alarm with a photoelectric type alarm or an alarm that has a “hush” button. A “hush” button will reduce the alarm’s sensitivity for a short period of time.

Smoke alarms are available for people who are deaf. These alarms use strobe lights. Vibration equipment is required with these alarms. This equipment is activated by the sound of the smoke alarm.

People with mild to severe hearing loss can use a device that will make a mixed, low-pitched sound. This device is activated by the sound of a traditional smoke alarm.

In 2009, Domino’s ranked number one in customer satisfaction in a survey of consumers of the U.S. largest limited service restaurants, according to the annual American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI). Hillary Clinton Parties in Cartagena, Colombia

Her job as secretary of state may leave little time for relaxation, but Hillary Clinton squeezed in a few moments of fun Saturday evening while attending the Summit of the Americas in Cartagena, Colombia.

Photos showed the top U.S. diplomat dancing and enjoying a bottled beverage at Cafe Havana, a bar described by the Lonely Planet travel guide as the perfect location to “shake your rump.”

An Example of the “Watch this!” Attitude in Action.

Air Safety Week February 22, 1999 Our contributing editor Rudolf Kapustin recalled a perfect illustration of those two most dangerous words in flying safety, “Watch this!” mentioned in the brief at page 9. The case involved the fatal 1993 crash of a GP Express Airlines twin-engine Beechcraft C-99 at Shelton, Neb. The probable cause issued by the National Transportation Safety Board was blunt: the accident was caused by “the deliberate disregard for FAA regulations, GP Express procedures, and prudent concerns for safety by the two pilots in their decision to execute an aerobatic maneuver during a check ride flight.” We should add that the aircraft’s discrete transponder code was terminated shortly before the crash. When the pilot in command rolled the aircraft, he did not have sufficient altitude to recover. Herewith, an extract from the cockpit voice recorder: barrelrollgoogle.com barrel roll google here barrel roll google

Legend: PIC – pilot in command; CP – copilot Time & Intra-cockpit Source Communication 1148:42 PIC You never rolled any airplane?

1149:43 CP Zero point zero

1149:45 PIC Well #, never rolled a ninety nine (Beechcraft C-99)

1149:51 CP Done a four oh two (Cessna 402, another twin-engine model)

1149:52 PIC None. One fifty twos, one seventy twos (other Cessnas). That’s when I knew it was time to get out of instructing. Those slugs, they don’t roll very well at all. We were doing aileron rolls where you just sit like this and crank, and they come around kinda hard the barrel roll’s a lot easier on, uh, they don’t have enough poop to barrel roll, one seventy two’s not too bad, just where, you’s kinda nose down. I guess we’ve got enough speed right now, and you just kinda start coming in like this (manipulates controls) pullin’ up -

1150:28 PIC And keep positive Gs on it. Take it all the way around, unload -

1150:35 PIC And then point it straight for the ground.

Obama, Shakira Join Forces at Colombian Cultural Event

Before leaving Colombia, President Obama spent some time with the people of Cartagena, participating in a cultural event to recognize the historically marginalized Afro-Colombian communities and to grant the descendents of slaves the formal title to their land.

“This a historic day, decades, even centuries in the making,” Obama said. “For generations many of you have lived on these lands, toiled these lands, raised your families on these lands and now, from this day forward, you will at long-last hold title to this land.”
Standing alongside President Santos of Colombia and singer Shakira in the Plaza de San Pedro, Obama reflected on his own ancestry.

“Early in my presidency, my family and I visited Ghana in West Africa and we visited the historic Cape Coast Castle and I’ll never forget my two young daughters, the descendents of Africans and African-Americans, looking out through the door of no return where so many Africans began their forced journey to this hemisphere,” he said.

“Today we gather in a port city where so many of those Africans arrived in chains,” he said.

“Like their brothers and sisters in both our countries and across this hemisphere they endured unimaginable cruelty, but in their suffering, which revealed man’s capacity for evil, we also see the spirit of this day, man’s capacity for good, for perseverance, for healing, the belief that we can overcome.”

The United States has allocated $61 million to improve the quality of life in predominantly indigenous communities and provide support to Colombia’s land restitution efforts.

“Giving you and so many Afro-Colombian communities title to this land is part of ending this nation’s long conflict,” Obama explained. “It gives you a new stake in a new Colombia. Not far from here your ancestors were brought and sold. Going forward, Colombia can realize its full potential by empowering all of its people, no matter what you like or where you come from.”

Shakira, who has a foundation that runs early childhood programs in the communities, introduced the event, but did not showcase her famous singing voice. The president spoke before a group of rather rambunctious children enrolled in her program, but praised their patience nonetheless.

“I am especially thankful to all the children because they are sitting very still and well-behaved and I want to get lessons for my own children from the parents and teachers,” he said, as the children continued to squirm.

After his brief remarks, Obama worked the ropeline, interacting with the Colombian people face-to-face for the first time during his visit to Cartagena for the Summit of the Americas. The president then headed straight to the airport and back to Washington.
